Fifty Year Resident Now Rests at Calhoun
Matilda Jane Summers McIntosh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Summers, was born in Wayne county, Iowa, October 23, 1854. She passed away at the Jennie Edmundson hospital in Council Bluffs June 20, 1934, aged 79 years, 7 months, 28 days.
Mrs. McIntosh grew to maturity in the vicinity of her birthplace, and February 7, 1869, she was joined in marriage with David McIntosh, who passed on 11 years ago.
To this union ten children were born - 7 sons and 3 daughters. They are: William Preston, John Andrew and Henry Marion of Mondamin; Louis Hiram of Council Bluffs; Harvey Eugene and Thos. Pearl passed on after having reached maturity, and Everett Earl died at the age of four. The daughters are: Mrs. Elsie Jobe of Mondamin; Mrs. Edna Jobe of Council Bluffs; and Elizabeth of Omaha.
Other near surviving relatives are a brother, John Summers, of Walthill, Nebr. 16 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
In their early married life, Mr. and Mrs. McIntosh removed from Wayne county to Kansas where they lived for a few years then returned to the former home. About 50 years ago they came to Harrison County and the home has been in this locality continually until the present.
In Wayne county, at the age of 20, Mrs. McIntosh entered the Church of Christ, and at one time was associated with the United Brethren, thus giving evidence of her religious attitude and convictions.
She was a true and faithful wife, a kind and loving mother, a helpful neighbor and friend. She will be sadly missed by her bereaved family and the community.
The funeral services with Rev. Victor F. Johnson officiating, were held in the Mondamin Church of Christ Friday at 2 o'clock and the burial was at Calhoun.
