ALLEN-JENKINS NUPTIALS YESTERDAY AFTERNOON
Well Known Couple From Grass Valley Were Married at the Congregational Parsonage by Rev. J. Sims - Will Make Home in Sister City.
A quiet but pretty wedding took place yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Congregational parsonage. Wm. Charles Allen and Miss Gertrude Mary Jenkins were made man and wife. The bride was attended by Miss Charity J. Granville of this city while J. Allen, a brother of the groom, acted as best man.
Shortly after the ceremony, which was performed by Rev. J. Sims, the couple left for Grass Valley, where they will make their home. The bride is a handsome young lady who has a host of admiring friends, while the groom is a young man of exemplary habits. The couple have the best wishes of a large circle of friends for a happy and prosperous wedded career.

YOUNG MOTHER DIES AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS
Mrs. W. O. Allen Died Late Sunday at Tuolumne; Remains Arrive Here.
Mrs. Gertrude Allen, wife of W. C. Allen and daughter of Mrs. W.H. Jenkin, died late Saturday evening at Tuolumne, news having been received here Sunday morning. Mrs. Allen had been ill for about three weeks, and while her case was critical in nature, her relatives entertained hopes for an ultimate recovery until the last. The mother of the deceased left here several days ago to be at her daughter's bedside, arriving at Tuolumne after a belated trip due to the floodwaters of the valleys.
Mrs. allen was a woman of gentle impulses, kind and was beloved by her hosts of friends and her demise is deplored by her large acquaintance. She was born in this city where she was educated i the public schools. About five years ago she was married to W.C. Allen, three boys, the eldest of whom is but four years, being born to the union. Mrs. Allen accompanied her husband to Tuolumne about a year ago and had apparently been enjoying good health until her present illness. She was 23 years of age.
Deceased was the only girl in a family of eight children. Her seven brothers, among whom is Clarence Jenkin, secretary of the Miners Union, reside in this city.
The body arrived on the late train last night from Tuolumne. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock from the residence of the deceased's mother. Services will be conducted in Emmanuel church at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. Isaac Dawson.
