Eugene Thomas Francis,Sr.,73,of 1015 8th Street, Altavista,Va. passed away Saturday April 29, 2000, while in the Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the Husband of Margaret Myers Francis.
Born April 23, 1927 ,in Halifax County, he was the son of the late Cabell Ray, and Lou Bomar Francis. He was a member of the Childrey Baptist Church,the D.V.A. ,and the Woodmen of the World. He was plant manager for Label Weave, Inc. for 29 and a half years and retired from Magnetek Universal Electric. Mr. Francis was a World war II veteran of the U.S. Army.
In Addition to his wife, he is survived by one son Eugene Thomas Jr.and his wife Susan of Hurt ;two daughters, Rebecca Hillsman and her husband, Barry of Hurt, and Jean Stephens and her husband Mark ,of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildern,and three great grandchildern.
One brother Buddy Pete Francis of Brookneal, and one sister Nina F. Wynn of Bassett,Va.
Funeral services were held May 2, 2000 at the Finch and Finch Chapel by Lory Brafford. interment was at the Childrey Baptist Church Cemetery.

"My son, my precious child ,I love you, and I would never leave you.During your times of trail and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
