Written by Ty's loving father:

Tyler Hilborn, "Ty", was born August 3, 1992 in Hanoi, Vietnam. He was abandoned at birth and left as an orphan. But that is only the beginning to his amazing adventurous life as our sweet son. He came home to America to his loving mom and dad on May 27, 1993. We celebrated his "America Day" each and every year. He was a 2011 graduate of Newbury Park High School and a biology student at Moorpark College.

Ty was full of life with an abundance of energy. He lived each day to its fullest. He had a love for ice hockey at an early age and played several years for the Ventura Mariners and SoCal Titan organization. When he turned 19 years old he hung up his skates and began surfing. Surfing became his new passion and "County Line", "The Strand", "C-Street" and "Mondos" became new terms his Midwestern dad attempted to learn.

Ty died on March 23, 2014 following his passion and catching that last wave. We miss him dearly. We miss his smile, his laughter, and his love.
