Matthew Loren Knotts, 42, of Bruceton Mills, died in March 2014, at his home.

The son of Linda Grace (Knotts) Smith of Bruceton Mills and Harold Franklin Knotts of Youngstown, OH, he was born July 9, 1971, in Putnam, CT.

He graduated from Bruceton High School in 1990 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany. Matthew was employed by SecureUS in Morgantown, for the past six years, where he was a dedicated employee and trusted friend.

He is survived by two daughters, Alexandra M. Grace Knotts and Sarah L. Elizabeth Knotts, both under five years of age; his loving mother, Linda Grace Smith of Bruceton Mills; an uncle and his wife, Ronald K. and Janie Smith of Clarksburg; cousins, Michael V. Smith and his mother Linda K. Smith of Morgantown, Douglas K. Smith and his wife Tina of Clarksburg, and Stephen B. Smith and his wife Kelli and family.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Verl W. and Grace M. Harshbarger Smith, Harold R. Knotts, John L. and Betty Hixenbaugh; and an uncle, Verl Jr. Smith.

Matthew, you have been unexpectedly and unwillingly taken from us. You will be greatly missed by your mother, daughters, family and friends. We love you and will cherish all our memories of you, and you will remain in our hearts forever.

The family will receive friends at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, from 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, until the 1 p.m. memorial service, with the Rev. Vicki D. Sheppard officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Matthew's memory to a trust that has been set up at United Bank, Re: Matthew L. Knotts Family Trust, 990 Elmer Prince Drive, Morgantown, WV 26505.
