Son of Andrew & Anna Helen (Sikorsky) Bachista. Brother of Eleanor Goff, Evelyn Stewart and Andrew "Andy" Bachista.

Grew up in Bonne Terre, Mo. attending St. Joseph's elementary school and Bonne Terre High School.

Proudly served in the U.S. Navy for three years.

Married Mary Kay Piazza of Bonne Terre, Mo. in 1963.

He was ordained to the Sacred Order of the Diaconate on Jan. 31, 1987, by the late Archbishop John L. May. Thereafter, he was assigned to St. Joseph Parish in Cottleville and served that parish until his retirement in December 2005.

Deacon Bachista performed the sacramental functions of a deacon; assisting Masses, preaching the gospel, leading Liturgy of the Word, communion services, baptisms, benedictions, Stations of the Cross,and conducting wake services and attending funerals. He also regularly brought Communion and made visitations to the homebound and to nursing home residents. He devoted time as an archdiocesan advocate for the Metropolitan Tribunal, assisting petitioners in resolving issues related to marriage annulments.

Retired from General Motors parts distribution center in Hazelwood, Mo.

Survived by his daughter, Kathy; predeceased by his wife, Mary Kay, in 2000 and by his daughter, Anna Marie in 1967.

Funeral Mass: St. Joseph Parish in Cottleville.
Burial: St. Joseph Parish cemetery.
