EARL ABNER HOKE, 84, died Thursday, March 27, 2014, surrounded by his family at Ossian Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born Dec. 12, 1929, he was a son of the late Howard Elmer and Lillie Alice (Crabill) Hoke. He lived his entire life in Waynedale and the surrounding area. He was a 1948 graduate of Elmhurst High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had a lifetime devotion to farming and took true pleasure driving a bus for F.W.C.S. for 46 years. He also enjoyed gardening and his pets. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Florence Edwina (Swencki) Hoke; four children, Susan (Hal) Springer, Judy (Dale) Teeple, Delores Hoke, and Howard A. Hoke, a brother, Virgil Hoke, of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Elmer, Homer, and Orval Hoke. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Waynedale, with calling one hour prior. Calling also 2 to 8 p.m., Saturday, March 29, at the funeral home. Burial in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or New Hope Hospice.
