Alberta Hudson Creagh passed away at CarolinaEast Medical Center on March 26, 2014.

She is preceded in death by her beloved son John Creagh; her mother and father Alberta and Sam Hudson; her sisters Ada Mattocks, Alice Lee George, and Sallie Sabiston, and her brothers Sam and Donald Hudson.

Alberta is survived by her husband of 68 years, John W. Creagh, Jr., her daughters, Lydia and Teresa; her granddaughters, Lillie Herman, Anna Creagh, and Rachel Campbell; her great grandchildren, Adam Campbell and Catherine Campbell; her sister-in-law, Julianne Hudson; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

She graduated from Mars Hill College and attended Bowman Gray School of Nursing.

She was active in the Pollocksville Presbyterian Church where she taught children's Sunday School classes for 45 years. She was also active in the Women of the Church and held various offices at the local, district, and presbytery levels. She was a member of the church choir for more than 50 years and was a frequent soloist.

Alberta was very proud of her service as a Gray Lady in the CEMC hospital auxiliary for more than 20 years.

She held a positive and optimistic view of people and life. She never held grudges; she loved her family unconditionally and loved her church faithfully. She received great pleasure from good food, and was an excellent cook. She loved people and always filled any room with her memorable laugh. She was a faithful friend and a guiding spirit to all she met. She had a larger-than-life personality and was truly one of a kind. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.

The family is happy to accept flowers, but in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "Alberta Fund" at the Pollocksville Presbyterian Church, 311 Main Street, Pollocksville, N.C. 28573.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 28, 2014, at Pollocksville Presbyterian Church from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Pollocksville Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service. Private interment will be at Pollocksville Cemetery.
