John D. Colbert, the president of Crosley Corporation of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and a resident of Bermuda Run, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on March 18, 2014 while attending the BrandSource convention in Orlando, Florida. He was 54.

A former sales director for Jenn-Air and Maytag, Colbert was sales and marketing Vice-President of W.C. Wood for six years before assuming the Presidency at Crosley in 2004.

The family said in a statement: "John excelled throughout his 30-year career in the appliance industry; at the time of his passing, John was fulfilling his professional dream as president of Crosley Corporation."

He was born to the late Robert and Margaret Colbert. John was survived by his loving wife, Deborah Colbert of Bermuda Run, his mother of Cordova, Tennessee, daughter Amy Mitchell (Camron) of Clemmons, North Carolina, grandson Andrew, brother Robert Colbert (Lucia) of Cordova, Tennesee, sister Margaret Brown (Earl) of St. Augustine, Florida, and niece Emily Brown of St. Augustine, Florida.

John obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee, which ignited a lifelong love of the university and UT football. He went on to round out his education at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

John excelled throughout his thirty-year career in the appliance industry, and at the time of his passing, John was fulfilling his professional dream as the President of Crosley Corporation.

The family gathering was arranged for Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. to receive friends and celebrate his life at the Bermuda Run Country Club, 324 Bermuda Run Drive, Bermuda Run, North Carolina 27006.

The family requests that memorials in his name be assigned to the John D. Colbert Memorial Scholarship, c/o the University of Tennessee Foundation - Tennessee Fund, 1551 Lake Loudoun Boulevard, Knoxville, Tennessee 27996. Please note "In memory of John D. Colbert" on the memo line.
