Roberts W. Balke, 80, of Edgerton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2005, at the Memorial Community Hospital in Edgerton. He was born on Aug. 23, 1925, in Edgerton, WI, son of the late Melvin and Marie (Slagg) Balke. He married Dolores Springborn on Feb. 14, 1953, in Oshkosh, WI. Bob graduated from Edgerton High School and attended 2 years at Milton College. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in January of 1943 and served on the USS Biloxi until being Honorably discharged in 1945. He worked as an electrician for Wisconsin Power and Light Company for 35 years, retiring in 1987. Bob was a proud member of the Edgerton Fire Department for 40 years, the VFW, and a member of the Pioneer Club, a retirement club for WP&L. He was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Edgerton. In addition to his wife, Dolores, he is survived by his children: Richard (Pamela) Balke of Madison, WI, William Balke, James Balke, both of Edgerton, WI, and Elizabeth (Wayne) Vierck of Edgerton, WI; his grandchildren: Christopher Balke, Timothy (Karen Marotz) Balke, Sylvia (Jeremy) Morhardt, Jennifer Mulryan, Jonathan Mulryan, James Vierck and Patrick Vierck; a brother, Vern (Betty) Balke of Rockford, IL; sisters, Dona (Andrew) Ray of Madison, WI, and Jean (Keith) Zeilinger of Janesville, WI; many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Susan Mulryan; brothers, Richard and Donald Balke; and a sister, Bonnebel Johnson.
