Miss Emma L. Rutledge, 70 years old, 514 Union street, last member of a family of early settlers of Winnebago county, died Tuesday morning at 4:35 o'clock at Swedish-American hospital after an illness of five months.
She was born in Canada, April 23, 1858, a daughter of Thomas and Abigail Richardson Rutledge, and came to Rockford when a young girl. She was a sister of the late Dr. John A. Rutledge.
She is survived by four nieces in California and one in Chicago and several cousins in Rockford. She was a member of Centennial M.E. church.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the chapel in Greenwood cemetery, the Rev. Quincy S. Wright and William M. Shimmin officiating.
