He is survived by his children; Anthony "Tony" (Linda) Leyva of Port Orange, Fl., Sandra Gamble of Moberly, MO., Mark J. Leyva, Highland, IN., Lisa Marie Leyva, Maitland, FL., Thomas (Aleisa) Leyva, Champions Gate, FL., Matthew (Rosa) Leyva, Concord, CA.; Grandchildren; Dawn, Scott, Andre', Jana, Jessie, Nick, SSG Mark Leyva Jr., Tom and Ariana. Great Grandchildren; Josh, Mariah, Jabri, Dyawna and Katlyn. Preceded in death by his wife, Sally (nee Gonzalez) Leyva, parents, and several brothers and sisters.
Anthony was a W.W. II U.S. Army veteran, a graduate of E.C. Washington High School and Indiana University. He retired from the East Chicago/Gary School Systems and active in the Cursillo, and Migrant Worker's Movements.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3510 Deodar Street, East Chicago, IN with Rev. Juan C. Gonzalez, C.PP.S. officiating. Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 3:00 to 7:00pm on Friday, March 28, 2014. Rosary 6:00pm Friday.
