Lakewood Citizen, Friday November 9,1951:

"John H Aring, 80, a former member of the township committee and garage owner her for many years, died suddenly last Friday at his home in Hollywood, Fla, where he had been making his Winter home for the past 20 years.
Mr Aring at one time owned the building which now houses the K and K Plumbing store and the corner at Second Street occupied by the Bob Higgins Grill. The larger building was operated as the Central Garage and was the second large garage to be erected in the town for public use. Mr Aring conducted the garage until early 1930's.
In addition to his business here, Mr Aring owned and operated a garage at Seaside Park. When he gave up business here he resided in Seaside in the Summer and in Hollywood in the Winter.
Surviving Mr Aring are his wife, Mrs May Aring; a son, Russell, and three sisters, Mrs Adelaide Headrick of Brooklyn, Mrs Elizabeth Anderson of Maplewood and Mrs Laura Heckman of Plainfield.
Funeral services will be held this morning at 11 o'clock at the DeRoche Funeral Home, with the Rev Robert E DuBois, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be made in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Officers and members of Lakewood Lodge 174, F and AM, conducted Masonic services at the funeral home last evening".
