Martha Fay Field was born June 29, 1832 in Conway, Franklin County, Massachusetts. The daughter of David Field Jr. (1807-1894) and Angelina Ware Sylvester (1812-1863). She was reared in Conway.
Martha married Allen Arthur Stone on September 24, 1851 in Conway Massachusetts. They moved to Granville Illinois between 1855 and 1858. To their union were born five children.:
1) Clara A. Stone (1853-1854)
2) Mary Eva Stone (1858-1865)
3) Arthur Allen Stone Jr. (1864-1914) Married Mary A. Taylor
4) Minnie Marion Stone (1865- )
5) William Porter Stone (1869-1938) Married Grace Myra Lloyd
Martha and Allen lived in Normal Illinois until Allen’s death in 1893. After Allen died Martha turned their home into a boarding house. Where she lived until she passed on November 4, 1907 at the age of
75 years, 4 months, and 6 days.
