CHINA GROVE - Sarah Ellen Blalock Clayton, 80, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, March 25, 2014.

Sarah was born June 21, 1933 in Adel, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late George Lester Blalock and Sarah Ellen Wood Blalock Kelly.

Sarah attended Rowan County schools and was of the Presbyterian faith. She worked 30 years with Cannon Mills in the wash cloth department. Sarah obtained her CNA license and worked at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, until her retirement. She loved to crochet, play the piano, and she sang with a group at New Hope Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald William Clayton Sr., November 18, 2001; and a son, David Lee Clayton, who died January 11, 1997.

Survivors include a son, Donald W. Clayton Jr. and wife, April of China Grove; a daughter, Christine Clayton of China Grove, and a brother, Jack Blalock Sr. of China Grove; four grandchildren; three nieces, Kathy Blalock, Lisa Ashley, and Frankie Meniu; and a nephew, Jack Blalock Jr.

The family will receive friends at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove, Friday, March 28, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
