U.S. Congressman. He attended the local academy in Gilmanto, New Hampshire, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1807 and proceeded to practice law in Farmington, New Hampshire. He began his political career as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 1813 and served in the New Hampshire Senate, (1820-25). In 1825, he was elected as an Adams candidate to the Nineteenth Congress, serving until 1827. After his term, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 73.
