US Congressman. Elected to represent Wisconsin's 5th District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1883 to 1886. He also served as a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention from Wisconsin in 1876, and as a Member of the Wisconsin State Legislature. During the American Civil War he served in the Union Army.
