JOHN KIMLER, 23; KILLED IN CRASH
Week-End Crashes Result in Death, Injuries; Bicyclists Are Struck.
ALBION - Albion's second fatal accident in two days cost the life of John Kimler. 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Klmler. 514 West Michigan. Mr. Kimler died a few minutes after a car In which he was riding with Harrison Ullom. West Walnut, the driver, struck a parked truck, a mile east of Albion on U.S.-12 at 3:45 a. m. Sunday.
The accident occurred less than 36 hours after John Czuchna of River Rouge suffered fatal injuries in a traffic accident six miles south of Albion at the Intersection of M-9 and M-60, Friday night.
Mr. Klmler, his skull crushed, was rushed to Sheldon hospital in an ambulance but was dead upon admittance. Ullom. and the two occupants of the truck, Harley Saxton of Schoolcraft and Henry Munson of Mattewan, were not injured.#
Mr. Ullom reported to Justice Harold B. Weeks, acting coroner, Deputy Sheriff Robert F. Groby and Policeman E. M. Sova that when the accident occurred he and Kimler were enroute home from Detroit. He said that he failed to note the last curve in the highway before a straightway stretch into Albion. The car left the pavement, ran along the shoulder for 65 yards and then hit the truck. The full impact of the crash came on the right side of the automobile, where Kimler was sitting asleep. Mr. Ullom said he was driving between 50 and 60 miles an hour, according to the officers.
Mr. Saxton said he had driven his truck off the highway for a few minutes of sleep because of drowsiness. He and Munson were enroute home from Detroit with a load of fruit baskets.
Mr. Kimler, a timekeeper in a local industrial plant, was graduated from Albion high school in 1932. Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers, George Jr. and Milo. and a sister, lla, all of Albion. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
