Philip Edward Broyles, 65, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014. He was born on December 19, 1948, in Shenandoah, Iowa to Don and Phyllis Broyles. He grew up in Clinton, Missouri and was a graduate of Clinton Senior High School, and later, a graduate of the University of Missouri at Rolla with a degree in Civil Engineering.
While attending Rolla, he married Janice Knutson on January 19, 1969. Together they had three children.
During his lifetime, he worked for Missouri Department of Transportation for 30 years, and worked for the City of Springfield Public Works Department, first as an assistant director, and the past three years as the Director of Public Works.
Phil had a contagious sense of humor and was very protective and supportive of his friends and family. He especially enjoyed watching his grandsons' sports activities.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Adam.
He is survived by his wife Jan of 46 years; his son Philip and his wife Erika; his daughter Robin and her fiancé Brandon Cox; his brother David and his wife Sharon, and sister-in-law Jane Broyles; his sister Carolyn Foster and her husband Dave; two grandsons, Jason and Erik; three nephews, Dan and Ted Broyles and Tim Hill and their families.
