Joyce was born in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, on February 25, 1930, to Erwin and Gertrude Zimmer. Joyce enjoyed being the big sister to Carol Zimmer Gagnon, Erwin Zimmer II, Ken Zimmer, and Wayne Zimmer. Joyce married the love of her life, Donald Benzshawel, on May 25, 1951, in Two Rivers. Joyce and Don lived in San Diego and Key West while Don was in the Navy for four years. Their first son, Scott, passed away shortly after birth. Joyce and Don raised their children, Cindy, Conni, and Michael, in Two Rivers and Fond du Lac. Joyce and Don lived in Appleton for over 30 years. Sadly, Don returned to heaven on February 27, 2001. Their grandson, Michael, returned to heaven on September 9, 2012.
Joyce was so proud of her children, her seven grandchildren, and her five great grandchildren. Joyce loved to crochet, and she made all of her children and grandchildren special afghans. She loved to fish in her younger days, and she recently enjoyed reading and using her iPad. Joyce had a gentle, loving spirit, and she will be greatly missed by her immediate and extended family.
A private funeral service will be held. Joyce requested that a tree be planted in her memory.
The Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers, assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
