James Douglas Fleming died on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at The Veteran's Victory Home in Walterboro, SC. A native of Portsmouth, Ohio, Doug's lifetime occupation in the insurance industry provided numerous opportunities with various companies throughout the nation. He served his country in the United States Army. He was actively involved with Lions Club, Kiwanis, and when his children were in school was active in several organizations related to his children's schools including Director of the Athletic Association. He was instrumental in fund-raising activities to benefit his community and schools. His favorite hobby was golf. Doug was a devoted husband, father of nine children, and friend to many. He is survived by: his children, Mark & Mary Havens, Doug Fleming, Buck & Cindy Abele, Dave Fleming, Nancy Guyton, Michael Fleming, Chris Fleming, Jennifer Fleming; grandchildren, Travis & Melissa Havens and family, Bobby and Jessica Wheeler, Jarret and Nicole Jalbert, Christopher Fleming and family, Rebecca Jose and family, Ryan and Laura Montgomery, Jason and Amy Fleming and family, Nick Fleming, Colby and Amber Scott, Jessica Long and family, Jordan Long and Hayden Brenner; brother and wife Mark and Dot Fleming; sister-in-law Cathy Bonser and her husband Gordon, and many nieces and nephews.
