He was born on August 22, 1988 in Two Rivers, son of Gregory Gates and the late Amy (Guehlstorf). Zach was a graduate of Washington High School, with the class of 2007. He was employed at Patsy's Mobile, Green Acres, and most recently at the Two Rivers Recreation Department. Zach loved all sports, especially softball, playing in Two Rivers and Manitowoc on numerous teams, he also loved baseball, basketball, football and was a huge Milwaukee Brewer and Green Bay Packer fan. Zach also took great pride in coaching and umpiring.
Zach is survived by his father Greg Gates and his special friend Jane Bauknecht, Two Rivers; a brother and sister-in-law: Matt and Amber Gates, Two Rivers; maternal grandmother: Darlene Guehlstorf, Two Rivers; 10 aunts and uncles: Gina and Daryl Hassemer, Mark and Jan Guehlstorf,
Wayne and Becky Gates, Pam and Jr. Vanne all of Two Rivers and Audrey and Dale Hallada, Lakewood. Other relatives and friends also survive.
He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandfather "Corky" Guehlstorf and paternal grandparents: Nial and Alice Gates and his
uncle: Gene Gates.
Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. A Memorial Service for Zach will be held at 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, March
7, 2013 at the Klein and Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Kim Henning, with burial at Holy Cross
Cemetery at a later date.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Klein and Stangel Funeral Home,
Two Rivers.
The world has lost a bright and shining light. With an ever present smile, a twinkle in his eyes and a joke on his lips, Zach touched so many lives. He has left a huge hole in the lives of his family and friends, which we will try to fill with our many happy memories of him. He will be missed more than words can say.
