Jacob Edward Brenize, 97, of 112 Lurgan Ave., Shippensburg, went to be the Lord on Monday, March 31, 2014 from the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born March 17, 1917 in Mowersville, Franklin County, he was a son of the late Sharpe Adam Sr., and Pearl Elizabeth Kuhn Brenize. He was married to Dorothy Beatrice Holtry on February 3, 1940.

Mr. Brenize attended the Pine Grove School near Mowersville. He worked diligently on his father's farm until August 1945 when they moved to Shippensburg at 20 Stewart Place, where they lived for 53 years. Mr. Brenize was then employed by Miller's Trucking Service for 37 years until his retirement in February 1982. He enjoyed driving his tractor trailer to Baltimore, MD, hauling lumber for McCune's Lumber Company in Shippensburg, and fertilizer for different businesses in the Shippensburg area.
He definitely enjoyed being in a truck. Since moving to 112 Lurgan Avenue, he became one of the "Scooter riders" of Rine Village. He actually took his last ride on his 97th birthday.

Since his retirement they have traveled to the West Indies to visit their youngest son Fred, while serving with the Peace Corps, in Tennessee, Texas, Florida, Oregon, Idaho, Washington State, Utah, Michigan, North and South Carolina and California. One trip that Mr. Brenize enjoyed after his retirement was traveling with his grandson Mike to Vancouver, British Columbia, and Canada to bring back three trucks piggy-back style.

He was a life-long member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Newburg, and at one time a member of the church's Men's Bible Class.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Beatrice Holtry Brenize, on October 9, 2003, his sister, Violet Almeda Brenize Miller, a brother, Sharpe Adam Brenize, Jr. and a grandson, Michael Ray Brenize.

He is survived by three children, Ray Eugene Brenize, Ruby Jean Brenize Dorosh, wife of Phillip, all of Shippensburg, and Fred Leroy Brenize, husband of Colleen of Seattle, WA. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jennette Heckman, Lisa Gayman, Lynn Brenize, Gretchen Mooney, Kathryn Bradley, and Bryan Brenize, 13 great grandchildren, Paul and Benjamin Gayman, Heather Fisher, Jeremy Heckman, Tiffany Mower, Heidi Schelander, Zachery and Katelyn Mooney, Holly and Shelby Brenize, Tabitha Ott, Angela Waskom, and Jamie Brenize, and seven great-great grandchildren, Dillan Brenize-Ott, Julianna Brenize-Ott, Gabriel Brenize-Ott, Delaney and Addyson Fisher , Elijah Mower and Atlee Heckman.
