Clifford O. "Dog" Brian, age 78 of Sumner, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 in Lawrenceville at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. He was born April 18, 1935 in Lukin Township to Troy and Florence (Jones) Brian. He married Myra Joan Harper on November 16, 1975, and she survives.

Clifford was a member of the Union Chapel Church, the Masonic Lodge, a former volunteer fire fighter for Christy Township Fire Protection District, had been on the Sumner School Board, and was a turkey farmer. Dog, as he was affectionately called by his friends, first owned and operated a Marathon filling station in Sumner. Then for more than 25 years, he owned and operated a Texaco filling station in Sumner as well. He was also well known throughout the area for running Brian's Wrecker Service.

Surviving family includes: his wife- Joan Brian of Sumner: five children- Connie O'Brien and husband Gary of Clay City, IL; Shannon Greene and husband Jimmy of Richwood, TX; Tony Brian and wife Gina of Hutsonville, IL; Jeff Magee and wife Debbie of Teutopolis, IL; and Cassie Mason and husband Tony of Sumner: one brother- Wayne Brian and wife Mary of Mesa Lake, IL: two sisters- Snooks Smith of Sumner and Jean Bell and husband Mike of Edinburg, IL: twelve grandchildren- Hillary Griggs, Amy O'Brien, Christopher O'Brien, Holly Brian, Chandler Mason, Madison Magee, Gage Brian, Noah Brian, Jack Brian, Sam Brian, Devin Magee, and Collin Magee.
