Glennis was the son of Grover Lee and Monnie Elsie (Dodd) Walker.
Glennis was brother to:
1. Wanda Anice Walker Sexton
2. Lestie Mae Walker Dunn
3. Lowis Arlet "Toy" Walker
4. Okey Eldridge "Steve" Walker
5. Erie Lambert Walker
6. Otis Lee Walker
Glennis married Jessie Mae Lilly in June, 1948, by Preacher B. L. Allen at Greenup, Kentucky.
In May, 1934 Glennis began operating an auto repair garage in Walkertown, WVA (no Josephine).
On July 9, 1941 Glennis enlisted in the U.S Army Air Force and served three years with the 365th Tech. Tng. Squadron at Lowry Field in Denver, Colorado. He spend 1-1/2 years at an overseas replacement depot near Salt Lake City, Utah. At the end of World War II, Glennis was discharged from service on November 30, 1945 at Fort Douglas, Utah.
Glennis went into partnership with his brother, Okey, in an auto repair shop from 1946 until 1951.
Glennis and Jessie lived at Josephine for over ten years before moving to Cool Ridge, WVA in March, 1959.
They had no children.
I remember visiting Glennis and Jessie in their home in Cool Ridge in the late 1990's with my mother (his cousin), Rachel Walker Hatcher.
After many years of research, and typing, Glennis and Jessie put together a wonderful family genealogy book about the Walker family called "THE HISTORY OF THE WALKER FAMILY 1734-1990 & THEIR KINDRED WITH RELATED INCIDENTS.
Glennis' book has been a great research tool for me in finding many of our ancestors and building memorials on Find A Grave. - BeVera 48191712 (Beverly Hatcher)
