Mrs. Chase was a native of Damariscotta, Maine, and at the time of her death was 62 years, 6 months and 11 days of age. Her's was a character that was thoroughly genuine. She was good not for the applause it brought, but because her heart was so kind and full of charity. Mrs. Chase came to California by way of the Isthmus in 1862 and with her late husband settled in Lodi in 1885. The funeral will be held today from the family residence at 2 p.m. Interment will be made in Lodi cemetery.
