William Blount Couts. He was the brother of Cave J. Couts. Married a daughter of Santiago E. Arguello, he was the county clerk and recorder in 1855-1858, postmaster in 1858, justice of the peace in 1861. In 1857, he held nearly all county offices as one time, if credit is given to the "Herald" newspaper of April 27, 1857. His son, George A. Couts, was a San Diego city policeman.

In the 1970s the cemetery was converted into the Mission Hills Memorial Park, and only 150 of the original 2016 gravestones were salvaged. These gravestones were placed near the stone wall closest to the Middle School. The grave stone marker for this person was not salvaged, and was apparently destroyed with the other grave markers that were abandoned. All records relating to the exact locations of the graves in the park were reported to have been lost in a fire.
