son of James & Elizabeth Lascomb of Lebanon, Lebanon County. He decided late to enlist, relatively speaking, because he joined up in Tennallytown, Washington DC, August 20, 1861, and mustered into federal service there two days later with Co. C, 7th Pennsylvania Reserves (36th Pa Inf), at the rank of private. He was killed in action June 30, 1862, at the battle of Charles City Crossroads, a battle outside Richmond also known as Frazier's Farm (with a variety of spellings of Frazier), New Market Road, Nelson's Farm, or, probably most commonly, Glendale. Steelton's G.A.R. Post No. 351 was named in his honor, although it is called the Sergeant Lascomb Post, he never rose above the rank of private.
