Charley married Minnie Johnson in 1892. They were the parents of Hilma, Mae, Arthur, and Eva.

Feb 7, 1930 - Humboldt Republican - Charley Carlson was born in Smoland, Sweden, on June 6, 1867, in the year 1888 he immigrated from his native country and came to America where he settled down in the state of Iowa.

In 1892 he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Johnson who preceded him in death on November 8, 1928, and to this union four children were born: Mrs. Hilma Johnson of Thor, Mrs. Mae Heyen of Rutland, Arthur Carlson of Rutland and Mrs. Eva Fort of Unique.

He was confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran church in Sweden. Although failing in health the past year, he was not confined to his bed until January 11, and he passed away at one o'clock p.m., Saturday, Feb. 1, being 62 years of age.

He leaves to mourn him beside his four children, two brothers and three sisters and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Duncan funeral parlors on Feb. 4. Rev. Freiberg of Albert City officiating. Interment was made at Union cemetery.
