EXETER - Margaret E. "Peg" Beckman, 94, of 8 Hampton Road, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation of Exeter.

She was born Aug. 13, 1908 in Providence, R.I., the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (McCullagh) Gumley. She was a graduate of Lexington Grammar School and attended night school in Providence to earn her high school diploma.

Mrs. Beckman worked many years as an assembler for the Bostitch/Stanley Corporation of East Greenwich, R.I.

She visited in Hampton Falls for the past 30 years, moving there from East Greenwich in 1993, and subsequently moving to Exeter in 1999.

Mrs. Beckman is survived by a son, Stephen R. Beckman and his wife Phyllis of Scituate, R.I.; a daughter, Bonnie J. Sheets-Keller and her husband Gene of Hampton Falls; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Beckman of Winter Haven, Fla,; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm S. Beckman, who died in 1975; a son, Charles W. Beckman in 1995; a grandson, Teddy Sheets in 1996; and a brother, Thomas C. Gumley in 1961.

Services were held Thursday, and burial will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the Highland Memorial Park, 1 Rhode Island Ave., Johnston, R.I.
