Walter B. Chacey Dies Suddenly
Walter B. Chacey, 65, was found dead at his home Saturday evening when his wife returned from a baby sitting engagement. It is believed he died about 4 or 5 p.m.
When Mrs. Chacey returned home she found his body lying on the floor. His death was sudden.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond funeral home with Dr. J. Henry Teele in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Walter Boyd Chacey was born Nov. 19, 1893, in Keokuk county, Iowa. He was the son of Ulysses Sherman and Celia Eyestone Chacey. He was reared and educated in Keokuk county, and was united in marriage on Jan. 3, 1918, to Bertha Mohland who survives. The wedding took place at Ottumwa.
The couple lived on a farm in the northwest corner of Jefferson county for 25 years and near Lockridge five years before he retired ten years ago and moved to Fairfield. The family home is at 1109 S. Third. He was a member of the Methodist church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Chacey is survived by his mother, Mrs. Celia Chacey, Sigourney; and four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Harry Braden, Martinsburg; Mrs. Minor Ellis, Packwood; Mrs. Roy Curtis, Ollie; Mrs. Harold Sutton, Ollie; George Chacey, Ollie; and Merle Chacey, Fairfield. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, one brother and three sisters.
