Nobility. She was the oldest daughter of Friedrich II and his second wife Agnes of Saarbrücken. She was married to Ludwig II Landrave of Thuringia to strengthen the alliance between the Ludowinger and Staufer families. In 1168 she started the building of the Runneburg which will later be residence of the thuringian landgraves.
She survived her husband by 19 years and was buried beside him in Reinhardsbrunn. Her grave plate, which calls her the sister of Emperor Friedrich, was later brought to Eisenach.
