Larry graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1965 and served with the National Guard six months before entering the service in June 1966. He was wounded in the arm by enemy fire in October 1967 and was awarded the Purple Heart. He rejoined his unit before Christmas. He served with the 6th Bn, 77th Artillery, South East Asian Command.
He was a member of Gettysburg Baptist Church.
