Laura Mae Trissel
Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Mae Trissel were held Saturday, Sept., 29, 1984 in the Mooreland First Christian Church with Dan Snider, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Mooreland Cemetery with Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Laura Mae Harbolt was born in Sticklerville, Missouri, on September 5, 1883. She came by horse and buggy with her mother and brother to Oklahoma Territory in 1900. They homesteaded on two farm sites North of Mooreland. (Laura's brother was Ira Sankey Harbolt, 1-15-1880 - 10-11-1970.)
About the same time a family by the name of Trissel came to the area, looking to build a home. They settled near the Harbolt's.
Three years later, in January, Laura Mae became the bride of Joseph Henry Trissel at Alva. They spent their entire married life in this area, having nine children, including one set of twin girls.
Joe preceded her in death on March 9, 1950. Mae moved into Mooreland in the early 1960’s. She moved to the Golden Age Nursing Center on May 1, 1976, living there until her death Wednesday at the age of 101.
She was a charter member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Trissel of Mooreland and Floyd Trissel of Salinas, Calif; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Osborn of Flagstaff, Ariz and Mrs. Beula Mae Rutledge of Martinsville, Ind.,; 15 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren, and 10 Great Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three daughters and two sons.
