Hattie was the daughter of Edward Freeman & Cornelia Jane Fuller Freeman. She was the wife of Elmer G. Cummings (1861-1936). Her daughter was Lucile Cummings Lorenz (1906-1996).

The following is a transcription of her obit as published (there are several spelling errors):
Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie M. Cummings, 61, who died from a heart attack Tuesday morning at 5:30 o'clock, will be held at the Methodist church at Frederick, Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Hartt officiating. Mrs. Cummings is survived by her husband, a daughter, Lucille, one brother, W. Jessie Freeman of Minneapolis, and three sisters, Mrs. H. Parks, Tenney, Minnesota, Mrs. A.E. Noel, Ree Heights, South Dakota and Mrs. D.D. Davies, Deep Park Wisconsin. Interment will be at Frederick cemetery.
