William (Bill) Pattersen Christensen was born Aug 12, 1904 in Woodward, Iowa. He was the 5th of 11 children born to Peter Christensen and Lilly M. Kugler Christensen.

His father Peter Christensen was born in Denmark in 1870, emigrated in 1892 to the USA and was a large tract acreage wheat farmer. He married Lilly M. Kugler of Iowa, daughter of Joseph Kugler and Lititia Mitten. The Peter Christensen family first lived in Boone, Woodward, Hardin, Iowa, then Pulaski, Fault County, South Dakota, then Jud, Lamoure, North Dakota, then Syracuse, Onondaga, New York.

Bill was raised in Iowa, then South Dakota, then North Dakota.

In 1922 he attended School in Millarton, Stutsman County, North Dakota.

Later he moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where he met and married Margaret Hazel Butts on March 7, 1924 in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie, Iowa. She was born in Agnew, Nebraska and was the daughter of Ryor C Butts and Ella Mary Butts. He worked as an automotive painter.

Bill and Hazel (Margaret) moved to Syracuse, New York and had a son William (Billie) P. Christensen II in 1928. In 1930 they were living in his parents household in Syracuse, New York

By 1934 they moved back to Lincoln, Nebraska, and then in the 1940's moved to
Everett, Washington where Bill worked as an auto painter and later as a automobile mechanic.
