Pearl Palestine Abernathy, age 98, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Forrest Hills Care & Rehab Center of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Pearl was born in Summerfield, Oklahoma on July 2, 1915, a daughter of the late Lila Virginia (Barnes) and Robert Lee Deere.
Pearl was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Wilburton, Oklahoma. She was the widow of Don Abernathy. In 1936, they were married at Talihina, Oklahoma.
Pearl is survived by: Sons/Daughter-In-Law: Woody & Charlotte Abernathy of Wilburton, Oklahoma; Jerry Don & Ann Abernathy of Bixby, Oklahoma. Sister: Opal Klikenbourg of Riverside, California.
Pearl is also survived by seven Grandchildren, thirteen Great Grandchildren, and one Great Great Grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, three brothers, one sister, one cousin/sister Jewell, Grandson Jerry Don Abernathy, Jr.
Services were held at the First Baptist Church, Wilburton, Oklahoma at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014 with Rev. Paul Brady and Rev. Jerry Don Abernathy officiating. Interment followed at the Wilburton Masonic Cemetery, Wilburton, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers: Grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers: Esther Sunday School Class.
