Morgan, a beloved daughter, sister, grandchild and friend, answered the call and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 6, 2014.

Morgan Laurayne Schmidt was born, along with her twin sister, Mackenzie, on July 30, 2001, in Buffalo, N.Y. The twin girls were blessed with much love and adoration by their parents, as well as from their older sister and extended family.

Although a twin, Morgan had her own style and grace; she excelled in school, and was a highly self-driven individual and determined student. She was currently a seventh-grader at Pleasant Valley Junior High School. Recently, she had been involved in cross country, where she was a state qualifier in her first year, an accomplishment that made her family very proud.

She was adored by her parents and her siblings, Mackenzie, Allyson and Andrew, and was blessed with many very dear friends. Her deep love for our Lord gave her much comfort. She is now at peace.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Morgan Schmidt Memorial Fund. Morgan's family will create a special tribute to be shared by all to honor her memory.

Those left to honor her memory include her parents, Derek and Christine Schmidt; her sister, Allyson; her twin sister, Mackenzie; and her brother, Andrew, all of Bettendorf; her maternal grandparents, Karen and Daniel Dunn; and her paternal grandparents, Charles and Sandra Schmidt, all of La Crosse, Wis.; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and many very special friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert Duncan.
