Howard C. Goessl, age 89, of 2318 34th St. Two Rivers, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, July 29, 2015 at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.

Howard was born in Cooperstown, WI on May 5, 1926, son of the late John and Frances (Duckert) Goessl. At the age of 16 he started farming with his parents on the family farm in Cooperstown and graduated from Denmark High School with the class of 1944. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army, and served his country during the Korean War. On June 4, 1955, he married Donna Alsteen at St. Charles Catholic Church in Lena. The couple was blessed with 56 years of marriage before Donna preceded him in death June 28, 2011. Howard, along with his wife, Donna owned & operated Cool City Cleaners in Two Rivers from 1972-2011. He continued to work at the cleaners until the present time. Howard was a longtime member of the Two Rivers Lions Club, Two Rivers Elks Club, and the Knights of Columbus, Council 1957. He was a former usher at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, and currently a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Parish. He enjoyed playing cards with several card clubs; he was an avid Packer fan who enjoyed going to games in his younger days; enjoyed traveling to see family; and especially enjoyed evening manhattans on his deck with the company of his neighbors; and the time spent with his grandkids, family and friends.

Survivors include one daughter, Joan Goessl-Holm and her husband, Mark of Albuquerque, New Mexico and their children, Allison, Mary Kate and Lucas; three sons & daughters-in-law, Bill and Diane Goessl of Morgan City, Louisiana and their children, Michelle (Kevin) Shamburger, and Jason (Keni) Goessl, and their son, Cohen; Jim and Karnie Goessl of Two Rivers and their children, Jeffrey, Bradley and his lady friend, Melanie Grosnick, and Erik and his special friend, Rachel Glaser; Alan and Mary Goessl of Appleton and their sons, Garrett and Bennett. He is further survived by one sister, Marian Farr of Arizona; and several sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law who include: Joan Goessl, Two Rivers, Barbara Goessl, California, Ruth Trudell, Oconto Falls, JoAnn O'Neil, Appleton, Beverly Conant, Marinette, Clayton Alsteen, Lena, Armond Alsteen, Fox Lake, and Russell Alsteen, Kelly Lake; step brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: Renetta Bennedum, Kelly Lake, Shirley Lockstein, Oconto, Donald and Rick Koeback, Oconto Falls; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Jack, Roy, Gerald, and Richard Goessl; and a brother-in-law, Jim Farr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2015 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd. Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Tom Reynebeau, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Monday morning from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. There will be no Sunday evening visitation.
