Joseph D. LePine, 80, 1620 Monroe St., Two Rivers, a well known retired blacksmith, died at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital Thursday night, where he had been a patient since Monday. He had been in failing health for the past several months.

Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Klein & Stangel Inc. Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at 9 a.m. with a solemn requiem high Mass at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers, in which Mr. LePine's son, the Rev. Clement LePine, of Alpha, Mich., will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Mr. LePine was born at Chelsea, Quebec, Canada, Feb. 4, 1874, a son of the late Daniel and Octavia Riopelle LePine. He immigrated to this country in 1897, settling at Coleman, Wis., where in 1898 he married Margriette Dupuis. After their marriage the couple moved to Pound, Wis., where he operated a blacksmith shop for nine years. For a year and a half the family lived at St. Boniface, Canada, and returned to Coleman for five years. He brought his family to Two Rivers in 1916 and operated a blacksmith shop adjoining his home for a number of years. Mr. LePine later took employment with the Hamilton Manufacturing Company, Two Rivers, where he worked for 15 years, retiring at the age of 65.

Besides his wife, survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Ray Laque and Mrs. William Koch of Two Rivers, Mrs. Charles Rank of Green Bay and Sister M. Regis, S.S.A., of Wauwatosa, seven sons, Louis, Francis and Edward LePine of Milwaukee, Clifford of Manitowoc, Isadore and Eugene, at home, and the Rev. Clement LePine of Alpha, Mich., three brothers, Napoleon of St. Jean de Piles, Canada, Dennis of St. Cyprian, Canada, and Alfred LePine of Grand Mere, Canada, 22 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and four step grandchildren.

A member of the Holy Name Society of St. Luke Church for many years, Mr. LePine served as the parish consultor over a long period of years.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 7:45 p.m. Monday.
