Services for Dale Blanton Russell, 94, of Huntington, will be held in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 12th at 4:00 P.M. with graveside services to follow in the Jonesville Cemetery, Huntington, TX, under the auspices of the Masonic Homer Lodge, #254, A.F. & A. M.

Mr. Russell was born on Thursday, May 22, 1919 in the Oak Flat Community outside of Huntington, the son of the late Leah (Sowell) and William Eli Russell. In his last year, his wish and request was to remain in his home. He passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 6:15 P.M. aged 94 years and 10 months, at his home of 70 years, with family at his side.

He was a cattleman, farmer, rancher, and gardener. He played the violin.

Mr. Russell served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a member of Masonic Homer Lodge, #254, A.F. & A. M. for over 65 years. Mr. Russell also had served the Huntington Schools on the Board of Education.

Mr. Russell was the descendant of one of the founding pioneer families of Huntington who settled in Oak Flat Community, Huntington in 1860, James Eason Russell and wife Caroline Welch Russell, who were his great grandparents. His grandfather was W.D. Russell and wife Mary Chestnut Russell.
