Sam Mitchell, age 81, of Pico Rivera, Calif. died June 13 in a Los Angeles hospital. He was a native of Yell County and taught school many years in Arkansas and Oklahoma. He practiced law in Arkansas and served as Representative in the State Legislature from 1916-1918., served an auxiliary to the Military Police during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie G. Kennon Mitchell; one son, X. X. Mitchell; two daughters; Imogene Hall and Martha Brown; two sisters , Miss Polly Mitchell and Mrs. Minnie Gillin, both of Danville; two brothers.
