Wasyl Turkalo, age 24, was on the SS Celtic that sailed from Liverpool, England Nov 06, 1909 and arrived at the Port of New York Nov 15, 1909. He had lived in Manchester, England for two years and was travelling to Taunton, Massachusetts to visit a cousin Jan Nekiha at 34 High Street

On June 22, 1911 in Taunton, MA, Bazyli Turkalo, 26, a weaver born in Austria to Tymko & Horpina (Czykalska), married Tatijana Peresluha, 20, a spooler born in Austria to Mikal & Annie (Szwec). This was the first marriage for both.

In Sep 1918 he filed his WWI draft registration card when he and his wife Taliyanna were living at 17 Caswell Street and he was working as a loom fixer for the Corr Cotton Mills on Middleboro Avenue. At that time he was described as being tall with a medium build, black eyes and brown hair. He listed his birth date as Dec 25, 1885.

When he re-filed with the 1942 draft of WWII, he and his wife were residing at 17 Caswell Street in East Taunton and he was employed by Carl Stohn on Middleboro Avenue in East Taunton. At that time he was 5'10" tall, weighed 180 pounds and had brown eyes and gray hair. He stated his birth date as Dec 24, 1885 and his birth place as Zakomarze, Austria. [There is presently a Zakomarze in the Busko region of Ukraine]
