THE PARIS NEWS, Thursday, August 15, 1957, p. 14: "John W. Patterson. John W. Patterson, 52, brother of Mrs. J. G. Brunson here, died of a heart attack Wednesday in Rupert, Idaho. He moved there about three and a half years ago, after teaching school for many years at Chicota and Direct. Funeral services Saturday at 4 p.m., will be held in Paris at Gene Roden & Sons chapel by the Rev. Max Barton and the Rev. J. L. (Bill) Wideman. Burial will be made in Meadowbrook Cemetery here. The body will be brought here from Dallas where arrival is expected at 7 a.m. Saturday. Born at Verona, Miss., February 3, 1905, John Patterson was a son of J. O. and Willie Belle (Burt) Patterson. Survivors are his mother, living at Verona; his wife, the former Miss Kate Thompson and two daughters, Patricia Belle Patterson and Kathryn Patterson, all of Rupert; these brothers and sisters: Sam Patterson and Mrs. J. A. Gregory, Verona; Dewey Patterson, Tupelo, Miss.; J. 0. Patterson, Sheffield, Ala., and Mrs. Brunson."
