Frank's mother was in ill health and passed away in 1907 at the age of 34 from tuberculosis. Frank was 13 years old at the time of his mother's death. Wib's father was the owner of "My Old Kentucky Home" Saloon at the corner of Washington Street and Fourth Street, Cannelton, IN and he felt that he was incapable of raising four children without a wife. Frank, age 9 and his brother Joe, age 7 were sent to Hawesville, KY (just a ferry boat ride across the Ohio River), to be raised by their paternal grandparents, Squire & Hannah Aldridge.
On Jan 20, 1914, his father passed away (40 years old) from a heart attack.
