Married ca 1754 Frederick CTY Md to Sarah Thompson

CA 1758 purchased 372 acres of land for 10 shillings in the forks of the Yadkin river (as did Daniel Boone's family) near Salisbury in Rowan Cty NC from John Carteret, first Earl of Granville. Deed recorded april 4 1761. Last of this land was sold 9/17/1767.

Moved ca 1775 from Rowan to New River in Wilkes Cty NC near present day Jefferson, Ashe Cty NC. where he had warrant #163 for 400 acres on north side of new river dated 11/5/1778 and granted march 3 1779.

On tax list 1782 of wilkes cty with 650 acres.

Three of his sons were in Rev War.

Left for Franklin Cty GA, land which had been bought from Creek Indians. Erected Sparks fort.

Died Nov 1793 near Athens Ga where he was killed by Native Americans during turkey hunt. The family moved to the fort for 7 years and stayed in Ga til 1808 when Wife Sally and 3 sons (jesse, hardy, bailey) moved to Tenn and setteledd in Sugar Creek in Hickman County.

13 Children. All 11 boys had red hair.
