The death in Leavenworth of Mrs. Mary Hund, wife of John Hund, reminded area residents of the large cider mill the Hunds had operated on their place in Salt Creek Valley, near the Atchison Leavenworth road. All of the apple growers in southern Atchison and northern Leavenworth counties had hauled many thousands of bushels of apples to that mill. The daughter of Kickapoo pioneers, Mr. and Mrs. John Aaron. Mrs. Hund was the mother of Mrs. Grace Gray, Atchison, route 4, and Mrs. Albert Domann of Mooney Creek.
