Frank was the youngest of three children born to the late Lewis and Melissa Cox and graduated from West Jefferson High School. On August 24 1954 he was married to Phyllis Allerton.

As a proud Marine, he was a Purple Heart recipient and a Silver Star candidate during the Korean War. He served with dedication and honor on the West Jefferson Police Department for 46 years, the last 26 years serving as the Police Chief before retiring. He is preceded in death by his sister Emma Jo Faust and granddaughter Ashley Pucket. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Phyllis; loving daughters, Jennifer Stover and Tracy (Bob) Boyer; brother Marvin (Claudia) Cox; grandchildren, Tara and Joey; great grandchildren, Scot,Sidney, and Lorenzo; brother-in-law ,Jack(Pat) Allerton; sister-in-law Donna Ater; close friend Paul Faust; nieces and nephews, and other loving family members,friends, and neighbors.

Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the RADER-MCDONALD FUNERAL HOME, West Jefferson,where Funeral Service will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Glade May officiating. Burial and Graveside Military Service will follow in Hampton Cemetery. Military Honors by the West Jefferson VFW and American Legion. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of choice.
