HAMPDEN – Carolyn A. Burnham died peacefully at home on April 14, 2014. She was also known as Mum, Kay, Carolyn Alice, Gammer, Sweetie and Ant B. She was born Nov. 23, 1933, the only child of Walter and Winifred Worthing.

She graduated from Cony High School Class of 1951 and went on to attend Eastern Maine General Hospital Nursing School and graduated in 1954. Mum married Richard A. Burnham in July of 1958 and they made their home at Westbrook Terrace in Hampden. This is where they raised their 2 daughters and made many lifelong friends. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, crewel work, raising her family and traveling with Dad in later years. Most of all, Mum enjoyed spending time with her family, sharing the love and laughter that filled the room up to the moment she passed.

Kay is survived by her daughters, Dawn Louise and Deborah Lynn and their husbands, Perry Antone and Michael Pickering, whom she loved as her own; and grandsons, Cooper and Brent Antone. Cooper shared a unique bond with Gammer and was always able to bring a smile to her face or a crooked thumbs up for a job well done. She is also survived by many other extended family members and lifelong friends. Kay was predeceased by her husband, Richard A. Burnham, in 2000.

During Kay's illness, she was very grateful to be able to stay in her own home due to the compassionate caregivers that gave her loving care. Thank you to Cathi, Kathleen, Jo, Lynn, Karen, and special thanks to Jerry for Mum's weekly hair appointment.

Interment will be next to Richard at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor. (Morning Sentinel 4/16/2014)
