Educated in Omaha NE schools. Served in U.S. Coast Guard and Army and retired from the Army. Worked in Security and IT divisions stationed in MA, CA, Okinawa Japan and Vietnam.
After retiring from U.S. service he worked at a rubber company in Boston then Foster Grant from which he also retired.
He married Dorothy Claire Born, also of Omaha in Papillion NE 10 July 1948. They had five children, Michael E., Marcella, Rebecca Ann, Christine Elizabeth and Jennifer. The marriage ended in divorce. He and his second wife, Georgia stood by Dorothy in her final weeks of life, even housing her sisters for that duration.
Gene then married Georgia Allison (Losee)Dewar and they had a wonderful adventure together of more than two decades before Georgia died in 2006. They spent summers together at their cabin in Ontario Canada where he seemed his happiest. Together they also lived in MA, NC and FL.
